Soccer Coaches Needed - The 2009 season was very successful with over 90 teams. With at least as many expected this season we’re looking for parent volunteers to coach their child’s team. The goal is to place two coaches with each team as well as provide coach training and practice schedules. This is a very rewarding volunteer position and the program cannot run without you.
Why Coach?
- Coaching your children gives you more time to spend with them – on and off the field. You’ll have one more thing in common with your children and you’ll have a common goal.
- As their coach, you’ll have some control over the types of things they’re learning, how they’re being taught, and what they’re exposed to.
- Coaching is a good way to meet other people in your community and get involved. You’ll quickly get to know the parents of your child’s friends and you’ll feel more a part of the community.
- Coaching kids’ sports is a great way to get in shape or stay in shape. It’s good exercise and will help keep you active.
- Your child will love it. They may not say it or show it, but kids like to see their parents involved in what they do.
- You get a snazzy whistle and the kids will listen to every word you say.
REGISTRATION PACKAGE
Please make sure to include the following in your registration package. If items are missing, it will be returned to you.
SPECIAL REQUESTS
Due to the program size and number of teams, we will only be able to accommodate special requests made by coaches. Players can play up an age group to be on the same team as a sibling but players are not allowed to play down an age group. To register in a higher age group register your child in their appropriate group and then contact TuscanySoccer@shaw.ca to have them moved and to make arrangements to pay the fee difference (if applicable). You will receive a confirmation from the soccer coordinator once the move has been made. Requests made through written comments on registration package may be missed so all requests must be made via email.
TUSCANY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP
It is necessary for all families to have a Tuscany Community Association (TCA) membership to play in the community. The cost is $20 and will expire in March 2011. You can purchase this when registering for your program. This membership is separate from the Tuscany Resident's Association (Tuscany Club) Membership. Your membership helps benefit our community by funding TCA operations and involving you in Community Association activities. If you have questions about membership, please contact membership@tuscanyca.ca .
VOLUNTEERING *New for 2010*
The Tuscany Soccer Program is a volunteer based program that cannot run without the support of hundreds of volunteers each year. We recognize that families have different needs, and therefore use a volunteer system which provides flexibility and choice for parents to volunteer as much as they like, or not at all. Those who choose not to volunteer pay a non-volunteer fee, while others can choose from a selection of tasks to reduce or eliminate that additional fee. We want to recognize the volunteers that commit an extraordinary amount of time to the program and reward this extra effort.
Parents are able to choose from 2 options:
- No volunteer role taken - a $50.00 Non-Volunteer fee will be charged for each child registered (maximum of $100).
- Volunteering role/s taken - Parents are required to earn 50 volunteer points per child registered (maximum of 100 points). When registering, you will prompted to enter your volunteer preference(s). Each position in the dropdown list has a description associated with it, as well as the number of points you will receive for doing that job (either 50 or 100 points). Registrants must send in a $50.00 depsoit cheque for each child registered (to a maximum of two cheques) postdated to June 30, 2010. If the parent fullfills their volunteer commitment(s) then the deposit cheques will be shredded. If the parent is unable to fullfull their commitment(s) then the cheque will be cashed. Again, volunteer commitments are per child, not per family.
For Example:
Parent with one child registered needs 50 volunteer points
Parent with 2 or more children registered needs 100 volunteer points
Because some positions are only worth 50 points, a parent with 2 or more children may need to volunteer for 2 positions to fulfill their requirement.
If you only volunteer for half of your requirement then one cheque will be cashed and the other shredded.
All communication will be done by email so please make sure to check the email you have provided regularly. You can view the volunteer positions here and also during the registration process. If you have questions about your position please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at SoccerVolunteers@tuscanyca.ca . All volunteer positions are assigned on a first come basis. Some positions are limited so make sure to register early if you want a specific position. |
